Whatever you do, dont go to the blinn in Brenham! Blinn tries to cover it up, but at one point the Wheeler Dorms had 3 attempted shootings in one week. Not to mention the local gangs that will come on campus if you mess with them. One kid owed one of them drug money and they crashed a party, pulled a gun on a bunch of people and beat his face with a broken wine bottle. One time I heard one came on campus with a bat, luckily we were on lockdown. And girls, don't go walking around at night. My girlfriend went jogging and found some guy watching her in the bushes. I only stayed here a summer semester and fall semester and then transferred to Bryan. Save yourself the trouble and go to the Blinn in Bryan.
Not the best junior college. I'm in my second semester of my first year here and I already want to transfer somewhere else. Yes, it's a lot cheaper than a big university, but not by much, especially if you stay on campus. The administration is unorganized, unhelpful and can sometimes be rude. This school tries to screw you out of anything and everything. If you live on campus, you HAVE to have some sort of meal plan but there aren't very many options as to where you can eat and students get tired of the same places every day. Most of the professors are pretty good, but there are a few who definitely shouldn't be teaching anymore. Most of my friends are RA's so I think getting into a student job here is the equivalent of being in an extracurricular in HS (will do more research to justify that statement). The hall directors are pretty cool, but not all of them are strict. Police are pretty present on campus so no worries there. Other than that, I rate this school about one star (wish I could go lower but I can't). Not the best. Still very expensive for a junior college and the admin. is unorganized. You will have lots of problems trying to get into this college once you're accepted. Good luck.
My friend has a buddy named Devan Kavorak that has gone to Blinn for a couple days and says he enjoys it. Would recommend. He is a freshman btw.
If you're looking for a place to get a just a 2-year degree, or even get basics out of the way, Blinn is highly recommended. But like any other school, choose your prof carefully.
I graduated from Blinn two years ago, and now I am graduating from Texas A&M. There is nothing fancy at the Bryan campus, but there are some great professors who really care about students. I enjoyed my two years at Blinn and can only say positive words.
